How do I know that the quality of the eggs I am going to freeze is good?

Egg freezing is an investment in the future. But with it comes the natural question:
“And will the eggs I freeze be good enough to give me a chance at a baby?”

The truth is that there is no universal test that gives a 100% guarantee. But there are ways to get a realistic idea of quality — even before the procedure itself.

What does “quality egg” mean?

It is an egg that is able to fertilize, give a normal embryo that will successfully implant and lead to a healthy pregnancy.
Eggs are not simply divided into “good” and “bad” — it all depends on age, hormonal background, genetic factors and the patient's response to stimulation.

What can we check before freezing?

1. Antimylar hormone (AMH) — gives an idea of the ovarian reserve. It does not evaluate the quality directly, but:
- the lower it is, the fewer eggs we expect;
- with a very low AMH, the chance of a good response to stimulation is less and therefore the number of eggs too.

2. Age — the most direct predictor of quality:
- By the age of 35, there is a higher percentage of genetically normal eggs
- Between 35 and 38 years of age, this percentage decreases slowly
- Over 38—40 years — the decline of genetically normal eggs is more abrupt.

3. During the process itself:
- number of mature eggs (MII)
- assessment of the morphology of aspirates under a microscope.

!!! Important: only fertilization and development to an embryo can give 100% information about the “potential” of the egg, but this does not happen when it is frozen.

What does a “good forecast” mean for freezing?

- if the woman is up to 35 years old. ;
- AMH in the norm or good response to stimulation
- Frozen at least 10—15 mature eggs for a realistic chance of pregnancy;

In women over 38, more cycles are often recommended to achieve an adequate “reserve” of frozen eggs.

Conclusion

We cannot see the future, but we can gather as much information as possible.
Egg quality is a combination of age, reserve, response to stimulation and care medications.

Freezing is a decision that requires knowledge, trust and a team that will give you a clear but honest judgment.

And the most important question is not “is every egg perfect”, but:
“Do I give myself a chance while I still can?”
