What is a sperm bank?
A sperm bank is a specialized structure in which sperm from pre-approved donors are stored and provided for medical purposes. These samples are used in assisted reproduction, when the partner does not have the opportunity to provide their own genetic material, or in single women wishing to become mothers.
Who can be a sperm donor?
The semen collected in the laboratory of the Invitro Clinic “Sofia” will be observed in the following stages:
- Compact for 21 and 40 years;
- Physical and physical equipment;
- Not placed under a ban;
- No days for hereditary genetic and chronic diseases;
- The main causes of the disease are the same as those of the patient and the patients who have been exposed to the cepematozoidite and the type of infection that has been detected;

Donation is voluntary, anonymous and gratuitous. Invitro Clinic “Sofia” assumes the costs of donors related to transportation, absence from work and other inconveniences.
Use of donor material
In the event of a so-called “postponed period” for the infection of HIV vipyc, cepematozoids shall be detected and published for a period of time. Legal framework
The activities of sperm donation and use are regulated by Ordinance No H-2 of 2023, which defines the conditions and procedure for assisted reproduction in Bulgaria. The executive agency “Medical Supervision” carries out control over these activities.
